navigation update
I just bought a 2006 lx470 with under 18k miles this past Saturday and I wanted to ask how easy or difficult it is to update the navigation? Meaning is it something I can do or something the dealership should do?

It's really easy. The DVD drive is under the passenger seat. Just move it forward and it's pretty easy to undo a few plastic screws to remove the DVD drive cover. Eject the old DVD disc and insert the new one.

Initially I was looking for a 2008 or 2009 but nobody had them in stock anywhere in the metro area but this particular dealer had a 2006 model available with low mileage so I went and checked it out and I was surprised to see that it had 17K and some change (under 18K) and it was in very good condition. Funny thing was that for the middle row seats, it was missing the headrests but besides that it had everything else like new.
It was a lease vehicle and the person who had it didn't even use the 3rd row seat in fact so very much new look and feel. The dealer stated they would provide the missing headrests and so that helped me to decide to get it. Plus my main thing was that it needed to have the dvd option which this one didn't have so after much negotiation they threw it in for me as part of the sale..
The LX external paint color is black..

tripplej - how much did it cost to get the dvd system/or screen installed? Also, do u happen to know how much it costs for the updated nav dvds? I just bought a 2004 and would like to update the nav and possibly install a rear dvd system.

The dealership wanted 1500 or 1700 for the dvd screen option but we negotiated to have it put in for free. When I first talked to the sales guy, I told him the suv needed the dvd system installed and without that I wouldn't take it. So, after some negotiation with the overall price, the dvd was thrown in for free.. The update for the navigation dvd was $200, which if I had known earlier prior to the purchase of the suv, I would have negotiated that as well but lesson learned for the next time I go and buy a certified used vehicle.

lol, I think I know how that happened. We removed the middle headrest of our GX so our daughter could see the dvd player from the third row. Reminds me that I need to put it back before we sell it.

I suspected what you did earlier was the reason for the missing headrests. We got the 2 side headrests installed and the dealership ordered the middle headrest. Will have to wait a weeks time to get it..

Nice buy tripplej. We bought our 06 with 14K in 08 for $44K in the midst of the gas crunch and absolutely love it. Mine is Green with tan leather. We have 3 girls who love it and it pulls our travel trailer with no problem. I even pulled a Dodge Big Horn out of the sand at Pismo Dunes which got the attn of many who'd never seen an LX on the dunes.

Yeah. this suv is great. I got the bluetooth working and it is very nice. So smooth on the major interstates.. Should have got this long time ago!
Just to update all, I got the middle headrest that was missing and now the vehicle has everything that it was to have if bought new in 2006!
