My 03 470 has a garbled sound from all speakers and rear sub speaker in left rear seems to be blown. Has anyone heard of this?

JST444: The link worked great, good article, too!
jdawg326: Since we both own '03 LX's I can say first hand that it is now at this point speakers will begin to deteriorate. Earlier this year, I had my local audio shop replace the 6" ML sub with a now discontinued shallow depth JL Audio sub. I know, in the near future, that the door speakers will soon be due for replacement as well.
There's nothing wrong with our systems, it's just getting old and to be honest, when you see what these speakers look like, you'll be amazed that they lasted 7 years! They're ugly paper cone speakers with small magnets. It does sound like you may have an amplifier issue more than a speaker issue at this time. You should visit a reputable car audio shop and have them test it out because there's no way your going to want to purchase a Lexus ML ampifier, it's cost prohibitive when you consider the availability and quality of aftermarket products. Good luck and let us know the diagnosis.
