I have been having problems lately with my 1999 LX470. It has been a great SVU. Now having a problem starting. Does not allways start. Get a clicking sound. have to turn the key on and off several times and eventually it will start. When it turns, the starter turns strong with no indication of a weak battery. I had the battery tested and was ok. So I am assuming it is the starter. When it does turn, it turns good and the car starts right away.

Is there anything that can be done/tested short of having the starter replaced?

Appreciate any help. Trying to avoid $700
