Hi eveyone,
I have a 2000 LX 470 and my wife is expecting our first baby in Jan.
I was about to install the infant rear car seat and i didnt see the latch that is normally located between back part of the seat and bottom of the seat where you sit. Is it because the latch was not standard thing back then in 2000?
i noticed the newer cars have them.

It might seem like a bummer, but even in the LX/LC models that do have latch, they only have it in the middle and on the driver's side. My wife and I didn't want to put the car seat on the driver's side (side with traffic) if we didn't need to, so I've rarely even used the latch in our LX. I keep it on the PS with the strap 95% of the time. We only put it in the middle if we're going on a long trip with passengers in the second row. So don't feel bad :-)

Latch is overrated. Seat belts work perfectly fine to secure car seats and typically give you more options on which location to use (as others have mentioned). When your kid is over 40lbs, in most case, you have to go with seat belts to secure the car seats because latch usually doesn't support more than 40lbs. I was hung up about latch location, but realized after a while, that seat belts are just as safe and work better or required in many cases.

I didn't say child seats with 5 point harnesses are overrated, I said the latch connector. seats with 5 point harnesses can be secured with seat belts instead of latch.

The latch is an addition to the seat belt not instead of.I didn't say anything about a 5 point child seat.An extra anchor point is not over rated
