Default AC compressor problems

My ac in my 05 seems to be going on the blink (blowing but not cooling). Had the system charged a few weeks ago, but it's back to just air again. If it is a blown compressor (which I believe may be the case) how much should I expect to pay for a replacement?

Have they put leak detector in and checked for leaks? That is the first step and more likely the cause of the problem. Did they find any leaks when the mechanic charged the system?

No leaks found. Compressor and clutch are shot. Was quoted $1749 for the replacement at a Toyota dealer; $759 for the exact same job at a local reputable mechanic (non-Lexus).

chances are that the freon leaked out as well as oil to lubricate the compressor. So it burned out and the lines will need to be flushed well before the new compressor is put into service and also, they will likely find the leak.

good luck
