huge difference in KBB and AutoTrader trade-in values
I have a 2001 LX470 with 86k miles. KBB estimates $18k for a "fair" condition trade-in, but AutoTrader's Instant trade-in quote is $10k. What can I really expect?

I just bought a 2002 lx 470 with 83000 miles on her, paid 25k. Is it more than kbb and auto trader, yes. But is the vehicle worth it? Yes. You can't buy any vehicle for less money and get more. Problem is the value to the right person depending on condition of vehicle is everything. I would say certainly 18k is fair but may have to be patient.

Best way to gauge what the market will pay for your LX is to take a look at your closest major city newspaper's classified ads section and see what they are listed at. I also would recommend that you take a look at the "completed" and "sold" transactions on eBay Motors. Lastly, you could also use Edmunds.com to get their "true market value"'or TMV. I have found this to be a much more realistic number than what KBB provides.
