Also to add, the 200 series (including the Land Cruiser) is now based on a shortened Tundra platform. Previous Cruisers/LXs were designed from the ground up. The 200 is less capable offroad and puts itself further from its original heritage and closer in line with an urban bling truck

Actually the Sequoia is based on the Tundra, not the 200, if I'm not mistaken.

I agree with you on the bling, but to each his own. The original Land Cruisers were spartan vehicles, utility vehicles with very few creature comforts but a lot of thought went in to the 4WD systems, both in capability, durability and simplicity.

Slowly they evolved with greater functionality in mind for all types of users. Today, computers have evolved as the mothers of 4WD capability, and simplicity. Durability could be debated.

One man's rock crawler/mudder is another man's ski vehicle, is another wife's mall crawler. Each has a different purpose but that does not mean the vehicles are bad, just that they have evolved.
Personally I'll take the safety features and innovations of the new vehicles for a daily driver.

It's funny to hear the debate about LX vs. LC too. They are the same car. It's metal and plastic. The badges really mean nothing other than human perception.

I do think some SUV manufactures have taken the added-bling thing way too far, and it's embarrassing to see waste for the sake of vanity. I still see the 200 as on the good side of that fence. Thank God they haven't added those side vents "gills" yet!

Yeah the Sequoia is a full tundra frame, the 200 is a shortened tundra frame. Or the 200 frame was extended for the Sequoia and Tundra.

I know wikipedia isn't the most trusted source, but this isn't the first place I have read this...

Point taken, but I would not use a shortened frame (only) to describe a car that is built on the same platform no matter what Wiki says. If the frame is shortened, it's not really the same frame. Wiki's description is that the 200 frame is "derived" but extensively modified. The suspensions for both LC and LX are completely different than the Sequoia as well. So is the body, brakes, etc. you get the idea. Saying the 200 is built on the Tundra/Sequoia platform is reaching, the physical resemblance is vague.

I prefer the LX470 over the newer LX570. Yes the 570 has all the newer technology, but there is just something unique about the LX470 that is missing in the 570.

The 570 seems to be trying win over the crossover crowd, it does not look like is sits as high, and it looks like it sits lower to the ground.

The new 2013 does look great with the spindle, but I still like the classic look of the 470.

I like the classic look of the LX470 better than the 570. But I also like the new technology of the new 570. I guess its a matter of preference.
