bumpy ride
RECENTLY BOUGHT A 1999 LX470 (US SPEC)
RIDE HEIGHT ADJUSTMENTS WORK FINE , BUT RIDE IS BIT BUMPY , DOSE ANY ONE HAVE THE SAME KIND OF PROBLEM
ADJUSTING THE HEIGHT FROM "L" TO "H" DOSE MAKE A GOOD DIFFERENCE IN THE FLUID RESERVOIR
CAN ANY 1 TELL ME WHAT CAN BE DONE TO IMPROVE THE RIDE????
MY LOCAL DEALER SAID ME TO CHANGE THE ACH FLUID IT MIGHT HAVE GONE BAD BECAUSE OF LONG USE BUT HE IS NT SURE

Make sure your Height sensors are clean, no corrosion,
Known for having AHC actuators lose their nitrogen fill(4 actuators total) one for each wheel. The only way to tell is to remove and measure internal bladder depth..Caution very high pressure system, if you don't know what your doing, don't mess with!!

Supposedly, there should be at least 7 gradations difference between the low and high settings. I've heard of cases when this was true, yet the accumulators were still flat. If the ride is harsh like there are no shocks, they are likely flat or close to it. Price is like $2500 for a set of new ones. If you get new ones, you can buy them from Toyota for a '06 landcruiser...same part, less cost. However, I would NOT trust a toyota dealer messing w/ the AHC, as most mechanics have never seen it. At least every LX since '98 has come w/ AHC, so Lexus mechanics are used to seeing it. There's a guy in Texas (last name is Bowers, IIRC), who will sell you supposedly improved ones for around $1500. If mine ever go flat, I plan to install a LC suspension and scrap the AHC altogether. It's about the same cost. BTW, I have my AHC fluid flushed about every 3 yrs. Kind of costly, like $250-300 each time.
