Default Long Distance Driving

I have another question regarding how the GX 470 does with long distance driving. I plan to have at least several trips a year at over 1,000 miles. Without regard to fuel efficiency, does anyone have experience using their GX 470 for long distance trips frequently? And how has it performed? Thank you. The model I would most like to know about is the 2005, but I'm sure that earlier/later models would not perform substantially different. Thank you.

Any properly maintained vehicle will be just fine with trips lasting essentially indefinitely...

Now, is that to say that there won't be potential issues, of course not, but, so long as the vehicle checks out mechanically, you will be just fine...

Common failures on trips include tires and cooling system... Making sure the vehicle is properly aligned and the front end is tight will eliminate many tire issues by eliminating uneven and excessive wear. Ensuring the cooling system is working properly - fans both activate when necessary, proper protection (boiling point) and amount of coolant, as well as ensuring there are no obstructions to the radiator, will prevent issues with overheating that may not present in short trip in town driving...

Along with coolant, the rest of the fluids should be checked and changed if required or for maintenance...

Whenever I go for a 1400 mile trip along the west coast I always take the LX. It will burn more fuel, but it will be a very comfortable ride. Often I do it pretty much non-stop, in one day. And not that tired after the trip, thanks to the comfortable and quiet cabin. Weather also becomes of little consideration.

I agree. Just took my first 400 mi trip non-stop. Super comfortable; I've had back surgeries but made the trip ther and back with no problems.
