Default quality of the new 2003 rims

what do u think about them? do u think the quality is better than the older one or not? what about the look?(IMO it definitely looks better) also do u think lexus should use the old material to make the new 18 rims rather than putting a new kind of material? Lets give comment guys~

What was wrong with the materials of the old rims??

In my opinion, for looks, the new one is better. However, functionally, i just don't get SUVs with big rims! They are not sports cars! In addition, when off-roading, big rims bend easily (less rubber to cushion).

Thanks.

I do not understand what you are talking about when you say "material." What would you have them be made of???

Most all rims today are made of aluminum or an aluminum alloy, some are still made of steel, but I certainly wouldn't want those!

The BEST rims are forged while most are cast. I think the 18's are a much needed asthetic improvement, but you cannot deny tigmd99's comment about bending of rims. I have had sports cars with large diameter rims and 45 or less series tires, but these neither give you a good ride or protect the rims. If you hit a nasty pothole or skim a curb you WILL screw up your big $$$ rims. It took me a set of 8 before I realized it just wasn't worth it... nearly every time my wife would drive the car she would manage to damage one.

No doubt big rims look great, but IMHO they belong on the track.

I have 17's on my LX and wouldn't mind 18's, but that is the absolute maximum I would go.

oops, i use a wrong word, i was actually saying the look of the rims, i bet u guys remember the previous version which it use a sorta aluminum accent. For the 2003, i see that it uses silver. I personally like the 18, it looks a lot better than the older version, but i think if lexus can use the old colour on the new rims it will be perfect~!

My 98 just had a flat and my rim bent. I was on the West Side Highway and couldn't pull over without getting hit. I bought a new rim off E-Bay from a '02 LX and the color and design is a little different. I ended up using my spare rim and the new one as my spare.

I loved the color of the pre '01 LX rims. When cleaned thoroughly they shine and look sweet. Just 16's. They look like a size 5 shoe on a 6'6" basketball player. Just doesn't go.
