Catalytic Converter Experiences '06 LX470

I have been told by Toyota its time replace my Catalytic Converters ('06 LX 470 w/ 245,000 miles) - Anyone replace these yet? Did you use OEM & let Lexus/Toyota do it?

How pricey was it? $$$$$

just been told by lexus need to replace the whole exhaust system $2400

how do you know the catatytic converter is bad?? I am sure muffler shops and local repair shops can repair
