LX470 night vision
Help! my LX 470 night vision seems to work OK. The "main" indicator light comes on but not the "beam" indicator light. Also, the display is slightly crooked on the windshield. Any ideas, or is this normal?

night vision?? Night vision with a vehicle is the headlights on - or any other auxillary lighting. If you want better night vision with a LX470, turn on the fog lights. It's about the only way to get decent lighting at night without the high beams.
If you want the "beam" light on, pull the direction signal handle towards you. to flash the high beams and away to hold them on.
No idea what you mean by the display is slightly crooked on the windshield.. If you mean that the lights show better to the right or the left of the front of the vehicle, that is normal if it offsets toward the right (side of the road). That is done so you don't blind on-coming traffice with the lights on.

Check the IR emitters to see if they are working. You should be able to feel them get warm. About the off angle, look for some adjustment in the HUD plate. This active night vision option wasn't around long in the US at least. There may be greater understanding of it in a Japanese Domestic Market forum if you don't mind using bablefish or similar.

The night vision is actually a high beam bulb in a projector lens with a filter to send out the IR wavelength down road that is then reflected back to the display system for the windshield. It sounds like you have a burned out bulb - it will be the same as a high beam bulb. The high beam bulb for the IR system sends light further down the road and is able to reflect images back to the windshield display of objects that are beyond the reach of the low beams. A clever system that sounds like a beauty in foggy areas.
