I want to add a spoiler to my 98 LX, but which one? Will the 2003 work on a 98, how about the ones on e-bay? I have never seen one on a 98 but know there was the option. Was it just a blade type spoiler painted or was it more like the 2003 spoiler? Thanks for any help.

Michael,
Ahhh, we think along the same lines....
I too have seen the 2003 factory spoiler and wanted it right away. Haha, that is until I found out what the prices were....ha. 700+ for the spoiler, 200+ for the led brake light and misc gaskets and brackets 100+. Well, is that spoiler worth a grand? Not
So, whats your options?
1. There was a factory upgrade spoiler for the 98-02 LX but its kinda ugly and cost around 4-500 list. But, it does come painted and matched. Still, I think its ugly but you may like it. Look around on ebay and you will see a 98-02 with one of these spoilers.
2. Landcruiser spoiler is less than 200 with the install kit and looks nice. It is flat black...so depending on your color it should look ok. You can always have it painted the color of the LX.
3. Wait for the 03 spoiler to be sold as a kit form upgrade. It may take a year or it may never happen. The prices quoted are from the dealer lookup of each separate component.
So, I feel you pain about wanting that 03 spoiler. It is sweet...but not worth a grand + painting. I have decided to go with the Landcruiser spoiler and leave it flat black as it goes well with my Topaz LX.

Thanks for the information. Have you looked at the the ones on e-bay? They look a lot like the 2003,come painted and the price is not too bad, but you get what you pay for. Still I would like to see one up close. Do you have a pic of the LC spoiler? My 98LX is golden pearl. Thanks.

Michael,
I found the spoilers on ebay. Hmmm, yes they do look like the 03 factory spoilers. There are 2 sellers...one selling painted to match for 250 and the other 115 unpainted.
Hmmm, I may order one of these.

I have done extensive research and come across various aftermarket dealers of spoilers. I believe Blankenship Aero LX470 spoilers are attractively priced in the $300 - $350 neighborhood, including brake light and paint finished.

ToyLexmods,
Is the spoiler for the Land Cruiser just a wind deflector and not an accual spoiler? I have one of those on my 4Runner and my mom wants one installed on her LX.

Hi All
I have ordered the '03 spoiler and am pretty excited about it (it has yet to arrive).
Can someone post step-by-step instructions for the installation.
Does it require any drilling?
Does it require removal of the original, 3rd brake light thats in the roof or does that light just end up being "hidden" behind the spoiler?
Thanks!

Thanks. I actually started my spoiler search with the Lexus dealers but prices were too high and ordering too complicated (as I believe one has to order various part numbers for light, spoiler, etc.). One dealer was very kind to recommend Blankenship Aero for factory-like spoilers. Although theirs was the highest amongst all the aftermarket quotes I obtained, I finally decided to proceed with them due to dealer recommendation as well as their specialization in spoilers. The cost was $395.
I would still request anyone with installation instructions or tips to post them.
Thanks!
