More power for LX soon?
Since Toyota is planning on the V12 Landcruiser for 2004 or 5 does this mean that there will be an LX of the same? Maybe an X5 contender? Well even if they don't push the power at least it would be super smooth. And yes, I got the information from Toyota. As far as I know the only V12 powerplant Toyota made was the 1GZ FE. I guess they will make a fresh one.

Interesting..
I'd like to know what you know. I have not heard anything about a V12 Land Cruiser. There were even rumors that the Land Cruiser and LX would slip away. That would push the price point way up, LX would probably be over the Range Rover then. I would think that any Land Cruiser/LX, even if V12, would never be a real X5 contender. X5 is not a true SUV, while the Land Cruiser has such a strong and rich off roading heritage. Toyota wouldn't think to put the badge on some fakey road-going SUV. There is supposedly an upcoming next-Generation IS or GS based SUV that will come to compete with the Infiniti FX45 and BMW X5. Where in Toyota are you getting your information from??

"The LX is more of a luxury SUV.. similar to the LS for the sedans."
IMHO of course, but I view it more like a well-equiped off-roader that can do daily chores no problem if you ask it to.

GX did come out, but it's definitely not an Infiniti FX45 or BMW X5 fighter other than price tags. Lexus is reportedly developing a new sport focused SUV more on par with those two. Will occupy the same price territory, as they feel that it's different enough to not eat into GX or RX sales.
Captain Bone, the RX is getting more power.. with the new 3.3L engine. I wouldn't expect to see Toyota/Lexus upping the power on the 4.7L V8 anytime soon. They just re-tweaked it for the 5-speed automatics.
AKoch has a great idea of the LX. It is an extremely capable off-road SUV that simply has nice furnishings, and won't complain about being a city dweller. =)

No, its just a stepping stone. First a V12 SUV then a V12 SC. I would buy an old SC body style with a bulletproof V12 in a second. Make the old body style also with a hardtop convertible and you're talking a world class car.

There is a new ~325 horsepower 5.4 liter iForce V8 coming out for the Tundra next year... since the 4.7 is the same motor in the LX470, GX470, and Tundra... I would presume that the bigger motor in the Tundra may very well find its way to the V8 Lexus SUV lineup shortly thereafter.
And Lexus is not going to be putting a V12 in the LX anytime in the next few years.

V12 in SC?
I would agree... The SC would be so badass if they made a V12 for it (im talking the older 92-00 style) But it makes you wonder... the car is already heavy in the front, lighter in the back, wouldnt that just make weight dsitribution worse having 4 extra cylinders in the front? Also, the Toyoa V12 like in the crown sedan doesnt have enough power... It should be pushing at least 400 hp what with it having 12 of em.... the infiniti V8 puts out 340!!
