Good advice to extend the breather tubes. Extend up into the engine bay on the firewall and terminate in fuel filter(s) fixed specially. This will filter the air entering.

Another danger is entering cool/cold water with Hot oil in the Diffs or Gearbox which can cause air/water leakage from around the axel/tranny seals. Thats why you should always stop and allow the axels to cool down before entering water.
