Default Part #LE88650-60B60, Amplifier Assy, Air

As a follow up to my AC problem in this thread here , I have done the following:
1. Bought a compressor and clutch on ebay about $350
2. Had them replaced/installed by indie here in Vidalia, LA (Dura Imports, really decent guy) for $250
3. After job completed, he states AC worked for a while only then stopped. Compressor and clutch all check out fine, air blows, but not cold.
4. Called Toyota in Natchez, and they confirmed the could diagnose.
5. The find no fault and confess there are some things they couldn't do, go figure. They confirm "everything" checks out fine: freon level, no leaks, compressor and clutch, etc. Cost me $113 for "partial" diagnosis.
6. Took car to Price LeBlanc Lexus in Baton Rouge: diagnosis reveals air conditioner assembly failure. Cost to replace is $1010 (P&L). Part # LE88650-60B60 Cost: $723.99. Labor 193.50. Part will have to be ordered. Promised to call and nod for ordering. Cost for this diagnosis: $198.66
My internet search is not yielding any results.
Any opinion on this people?

Check my post to your "smoke and noise" thread. If you're interested in what's involved in changing the amplifier, check the FAQ thread in the 100-series forum on ih8mud.com. There's a link that will take you to a factory shop manual for (I think) a 2004...same procedure as a 2006.

Thanks a lot. I just ordered the part from Ebay for about $140 with shipping. Hope this solves the problem. Will keep you posted.
