How come my '98 LX 470 has DRLs - I thought they weren't added until '99?

Hey all, I recently bought a '98 LX. Before I bought it I had done some research at the lexus.com model library and noted that one of the changes listed for the '99 was the addition of daytime running lights. Here's a quote from the model library:
So I was surprised to discover that for some strange reason my '98 does have DRLs. How can this be? I've narrowed it down to 4 possible explanations: Either:
A) The first owner was able to have it modified to have DRLs.
B) Lexus maybe added the DRLs in the middle of the '98 production run.
C) The lexus.com model library contains incorrect info.
D) What I think are DRLs are not really in fact DRLs.
My best guess is "B". My LX was manufactured in June '98. I assume this was toward the latter half of the '98 production run but I'm not sure when the '98s actually began production and when the '99s started up. Any help in solving this mystery would be appreciated

My '98 470 also has daytime running lamps, it must have been standard in 98. If you don't want them on, while the vehicle is in Park pull up your parking break one click, not enough to engage the break and the lights won't come on.

my guess is that, since they became standard in 1999, they may have been an option in 1998, and the original owner of the car just got that option when he bought the car from the dealership...not sure tho.
