Is '99 + roof rack better than the '98's version?

Hey all, I've got a '98 and was wondering if anyone knows why Lexus redesigned the roof rack for '99. Were they trying to reduce wind noise maybe by having it sit further back? I haven't noticed any excessive wind noise at highway speeds in my '98 but I've never driven a '99 + at high speeds so I don't have anything to compare it to. My other theory is that they were just trying to distinguish it from the Land Cruiser which I believe still uses the same roof rack design as the '98 LX. Is the carrying capacity any better for the redesign or is it the same 150 lbs?

GG,
It's my understanding the 99 rack was respositioned so that the leading edge was further behind the sunroof opening to reduce noise during highway driving with the sunroof open - it is louder than a 99. The up side is that you do have a tad more usable "length capacity" (great for canoes, kyaks, etc) with a 98LX/TLC roofrack as well as more lateral stability with the center (third) mounting point. Capacity is the same.
BTW, great job on the radio install, answered alot of questions that will come our way when our head changer locks up.

PS we're down Englewood/Venice way, are you in G'ville?

Thanks for the info Bill - I kind of figured it was related to wind noise but I wasn't sure.
Venice is a great area, wish I could afford the real estate down there - maybe I'll be able to afford a fixer-upper by the time I'm ready to retire
I'm in the Orlando area, although I went to school in Gainesville. Go Gators!
