LX470 - stalling on bumpy roads
Thought I had bad gas in the car. Engine would shutoff to zero rpm at highway speed with check engine light then come right back up to speed. mechanic found fuel pump relay code and replaced. Issue happened again, back to mechanic who could not replicate over 2 days - car ran fine.
Got in car today and the issue was happening repeatedly going over bumpy highway. Checked the battery connections and giggled the fuel pump relay connector got in and drove around - was even worse car stalled out.
On on a whim checked the fuel cap and it came off really easy -...clicked it back onto tight close and the issue went away and drove on same stretch of highway.
So the question, car sat all day in 102 degrees, I imagine the pressure in the tank was up, if the cap is working itself loose over bumpy roads and breaking the seal could that cause it to surge or would the check engine light simply come on? Ive read the other stalling threads and this issue has been so intermittent - this bumpy road issue was the first time I started thinking something might be loose somewhere. Other than a potentially faulty gas cap any ideas?
