Default nose mask

Does anyone out there have a full nose mask on your LX470 or have seen an LX470 with an nose mask on it? Down here in south Louisiana we have two seasons of "love bugs" which does tremendous damage to paint jobs.

I have priced the mask and it cost $173.00 with tax. Spoke with a sales consultant at my Lexus dealer and he mentioned a new clear mask called "digishield". The only problem is that this new mask cost $1100.00. Have anyone ever hear of or used "digishield"?

I have seen pictures of the black bra and there is currently one on ebay for sale. The bra does not look bad but i would only use it for road trips and such. A bra can also damage your paint more than bugs because dirt gets trapped under it and the bra grinds it into your paint. I currently have the "clear bra" on my sc430 and lx470, I love it and would highly reccomend. Both cars are black and the mask is not even that visible, it has saved me from many chips and it makes getting the bugs off a breeze because i can rub harder and the bugs dont stick as well to it I would reccomend calling a high end window tinting place in your area because many offer this service as well and are much better at installing it than any dealership. They are also much cheaper and can make totally custom pieces such as door handle cups and windshield pillar protection. I would also reccomend the 3M headlight shields, they are great too. I had the tinting shop cover any vurnurable part of the car with the stuff including the headlight shields and only paid $650 compared to the dealerships quote of just the bumper and hood for $1000. If you need any more info just ask!

Thanks for the info bsjoiner. I thought the dealer had jacked up the price. I will start searching for a "digishield" dealer. Are the 3M headlight shields you are referencing clear and where did you purchase them?

The headlight shields are totally clear but are very strong and inpact resistant! I purchased mine from autoanything.com but many places carry them for the same $60. It included covers for every light including fogs and DRL's. They are easy to install and are barely noticable but guarantee that nothing will hurt you lights for 3 years or they will pay for the damage. A new headlamp is proably $1000! They are great, I highly reccomend.

bsjoiner,

I called the digishield dealer directly yesterday to compare their price with the quote I received from the dealer. These are the same people that the dealer will be sending my car to if I went through them.

B & W - hood which includes the mirrors $200
B & W - bumper $265

P. L. Lexus - hood $450
P. L. Lexus - bumper $650

What a rip off!!! That's better than a 100% mark up.

bsjoiner,

Have you ever heard of X-pel? Read on the Edmunds LS430 site that it's exactly like digishield. Did a search on their website and found a local dealer (closest digishield dealer is 1 1/2 hours away). The price for both are about the same, + or - $10. They even make the light covers.

I tried to call the dealer this morning but he didn't answer. I will try again Monday morning, will let you know the exact cost.

I actually have X-Pel on my sc430. I thought that you were just calling it by another name. I would bet that they are the exact same because as far as I know 3M X-Pel is the only name in the business. The installers just call it by different names. (X-Pel, Digisheild, Invisibra, etc...

bsjoiner,

I finally got it done, just in time for the second south Louisiana season of "love bugs". Those bugs can really mess up a paint job. Wow, it look great on the car. I paid $382.00 for the kit installed with two extra pieces added to the side fenders. Thanks again for your help.
