Hi, I recently bought a 2009 LX 570. After driving for a couple of days the 4LO light came on (and only that light. No others) and began flashing on and off. If I restart the vehicle 4LO light dissappers but it will eventually come back on. Never at highway speeds only when driving on streets. The switch is always in High 4. I’ve tested the low 4 and it is working. Took it into a Lexus dealership to have codes read. They took for a test drive and of course unable to duplicate 4LO flashing. They read all codes and found no issues. Thoughts of what may be happening?

The original post is 4+ years old and looks like the last post by the original poster. All posts about the same issue and no answers from here.

ih8mud reports the issue may happen because the truck is never routinely shifted into 4-low, and/or transfer case fluid is low, and/or the trans case fluid is 75W-90 v. the required 75W. 75W from Toyota pushes $75-80 a quart, and you'll use about 1.5 quarts. The only other 75W is from Ravenol. I don't have a local dealer but factory direct with shipping to ID is ~ $40-50/

Ravenol oil has a pull-out tip on each bottle. With the Toyota 75W you'll need a hand pump...definitely a mess for the price.
