Have a 1998 LX 470 with 317K miles. Whenever I get out of the vehicle after driving I am getting a heavy odor of what seems to be a combination of gas and exhaust fumes. Vehicle has original engine and trans and due for timing belt replacement at 200K. No overheating, rough idle or any other issues. Would appreciate feedback from anyone that had a similar problem and what the solution was.

I'd check the charcoal canister as well as the PCV valve and it's plumbing.

Has she thrown any codes??

Timing belt was gets changed every 90K if you follow the book. I've not had the same experience but I do hang out on mud just a bit.
