1998 LX470 will start but wont keep running
300K miles; RPL fuel pump, tank screen, & fuel filter. Tach & oil press. gages intermittant. Did previously have codes for o2 sensor but were cleared. Sometimes Check engine light will not come on during pre-startup "check" - and will just crank -not run. Turn key off and back on - check engine light will come on and then will run for short time and very rough after a few seconds before dying. Will not stay running. Dies if I unplug MAF. Car will not rev up during few seconds of running unless floored, still will die.

Fuel screen in tank is new. Keeps blowing 10amp ignition fuse driver side panel under dash; cleaned all contacts in that panel which showed water corrosion. Previous owner put in new alternator; .While checking Alt, I accidently broke one or 2 alt. wires & it started & NOW is running!!! & charging Batt ( Not sure, yet) Maybe bad Alt. sending a bad signal to ign circuit ,that when removed , it RUNS; Is this possible!? All gages working now that wasnt working before : tach & oil pressure. ABS light still ON

Confusing scenario but the water corrosion now makes me think there was a sunroof leak at some point that allowed water to run down along the a-pillars and into the electronics, this is common for clogged sunroof drains and poor windshield installs. First you need to verify the leaks are corrected, as I can't imagine another way those parts would corrode. I think the corrosion is the clue here, you may ned to go back and really clean the fuse block up or replace it. Check all grounds under the hood and be sure the battery posts and terminals on wire ends are 100% clean and free of corrosion.
What are codes telling you at this point? Also, if you haven't already, sometimes it's best to take it to a dealer to inspect and diagnose using their tools and techs, they may have experience with this issue, and even if you end up doing the repair yourself the money spent to diagnose may be worthwhile if they can nail it down.

Yes, we think water has leaked from sunroof to corrode connections; Tks for ur help.
OK, New INFO: Running good, But, Battery light on dash; just installed new Alt. Battery also new( tests 13+ V with eng off).
Used portable tester at batt & charging abv 14Volts. Batt light ON! any fuses to check? or could it be one of the 3 wires coming from Alt not connected properly:
cause those broke off before getting new Alt...Tks
