Default what is lexus link???

Can anyone tell me what Lexus Link is? How does it work, what does your car have to have, and is it available in a 99LX 470?
Thanks

If you've heard of "On Star" from GM it's very similar. I have Lexus Link on my '03 SC 430. It uses cell phone signal as well as GPS navigation. If you have the safety and security package, you can push a button and call for emergency services, and they will give EMS your exact location. If you have a wreck and airbags deploy, your car will call Lexus Link automatically and they will send EMS if necessary. You can also have them lock and or unlock your car from a satellite signal. They have premium packages that allow you to call them to make dinner reservations, catering, get tickets to shows etc. They can also provide route assistance if you get lost. They can talk you back to the right road. It does some more things, but that's most of what it does. The first year is free, and I don't remember the cost after that. I should find out soon, since my first year is about up. I know it wasn't available on the 99 LX, and I don't think it can be retro fitted. Ask your Lexus dealer, but it seems like there is too much integration between various systems of the car to be able to add it to your car. I can't even add an XM radio very easily to my SC, let alone trying something like Lexus Link on my 2000 LX. Hope that somewhat answers your question.

http://www.lexus.com/lexuslink/

From the same site...
Model Year 2002 vehicles featuring the Lexus Link option include LS 430. Model Year 2003 vehicles featuring the Lexus Link option include LS 430, SC 430, LX 470 and GX 470.

Think you're out of luck on the 99 .

Default thanks

Thanks for the info. I had a feeling it was the same concept as OnStar. My Dad has a Cadillac and has onstar. I just recently had both sets of keys locked in my car and he was tormenting me saying that could never happen to him thanks to Onstar. He could not imagine my Lexus did not have that. I told him it may in the newer models, unfortunatly my pocketbook is not able to have the newer model. I am happy with the 99....just have to be more careful from now on.
