Default 2015 LX570 - What do I need to know?

Hey all --
I found a deal on an LX570 and pulled the trigger.
It's a 2015 with 76k miles from the south - I'm not sure if these are prone to rust but it lived its life (so far) in Texas - non salt state.
I'm fairly mechanical and can (and will) do almost anything - up to rebuilding the engine.
The only car I fear is a Porsche Cayenne (had one and it was an electrical nightmare).

What do I need to know about the care and feeding of the LC200/Lexus LX570? What are the common issues? What are some common upgrades? Gotchas?
What should an LC200/LX570 noob know about this thing?

Thanks in advance.

I would say the three concerns I hear the most are 1) Radiator (ticking time bomb) 2) AHC and 3) Valley Coolant leaks (distant 3rd).

Radiator issue is so overblown on these. It's a coolant issue, if you don't change it it breaks down and that's what causes the radiators' trouble.

I got this from a fellow LC/LX owner who has 3 and owns an indy import auto shop.

My coolant has been flushed only once, I'd drive it through Death Valley right now without a worry.

The coolant causes them all to crack in the same place? If it is a coolant problem then why did Toyota redesign the radiator at the weak spot which fixed the problem in the new radiators? Sorry, but you have no idea what you are talking about.

There is a 1600+ post thread (with hundreds of photos) about this at IH8MUD. Make up your own minds.

If your radiator looks like this (flush at the top of the label) you are going to have a "bad coolant" problem.

If it is this redesigned model (flush in the middle) you are ok.

I just know someone who owns and has exclusively worked on his three of these who owns an indy shop and does it all with them.

The Lexus dealer also told me they don't see radiator trouble generally with LX, just the VERY OCCASIONAL AHC blips. They said LXs hardly ever come in for anything remotely serious. These are people I've been dealing with for over a decade, I wouldn't call myself friends with them but we definitely have a rapport and good customer-business relationship

I just feel this issue is overblown like I said.

The radiator thread at IH8MUD is twice the size of the AHC sticky thread. I can assure you it is a real issue. I just had to replace mine a couple of months ago at the exact weakspot all over the radiator thread. The consensus is that the radiators up to 2015 had a design flaw that was fixed at some point in the 2016 (iirc) models and in new replacement parts.

Like I said, anyone who does not believe me, read the IH8Mud thread and judge for yourself. The photo evidence of this specific crack point is overwhelming.

I'm going to snap a pic of my radiator next time I go outside and post it.

I'd tend to avoid the independent import auto shop. As has been noted, the radiator issue happens in the same location, near the PN emblem on the top of the radiator tank. Note also that Toyota has replaced more than a few radiators with the issue in the same place.

Dirty, but no cracks at this time. I have had a coolant flush about 40k ago.

Land Cruiser gods would like my dirty engine from mudding. And ain't that huge V8 just a pretty thing since we're looking at it.... Biggest engine Toyota ever made. Does everything well except it sucks down gas in the city which IDGAF about. The government can keep all the turbos, direct injection, and high pressure fuel pumps etc etc.

That's ludicrous as well as incorrect.

What is ludicrous? My radiator is fine, my truck has 128k on it. Engine bay is just dirty because I actually take it off road and am hard on it sometimes.

I do with complicated cars. There's a great Indy Toyota shop in town, though, that I trust with the minor stuff. They use all OEM parts and are cheaper than dealer.

Alls I'm saying is this guy owns 2 LCs and an LX, all 200s. He knows his stuff and makes so much money it almost shocks me.
