Switching it up! Maybe?
I have a 2015 RX 350 with about 70,000 miles. I知 looking at a 2008 LX 570 with only 51,000 miles. One owner, excellent condition. Would this be a dumb thing to do? Really looking for some advice here.

They're vastly different vehicles so if you're OK with the increased gas prices, age related maintenance, outdated infotainment, and driving dynamics of the LX570 then have at it. I'd test drive the LX570 to make sure it's really what you want though. The good news is the resale value on LX570s continues to be strong so if you end up hating it in a year or two you can move on easily.

The LX is much more car/truck, as in <much bigger> so that may or may not be a good thing, depending on your needs.
The RX is more like a car in comparison.

Yes…. Really wanting something bigger. The RX 350 just feels a bit small to me. I know gas is an issue but it’s also an issue with RX 350.
I like this older model and because of this particular car being so clean it’s really got me thinking. I owned a land cruiser once years ago. I felt too big for me at that time in my life. But I’m older now have three dogs and I’m really obsessing on this vehicle. Just wanting something large and safe and reliable. My concern is that it’s a 16-year-old car as opposed to my RX, which is 9 years. But it was really kept an amazing condition. It did have to have the battery replaced four times but that could be because it wasn’t driven more than 3000 to 3500 miles a year. Maintenance records are all super good all done at Lexus.

Pole Position
I had a 2010 LX 570 for about 7 or 8 years that I just got rid of back in December. Bought it with about 50k miles, kept it until about 175k miles. My $.02:
If it's a truck you really want, you should go for it.
- Third row layout is not ideal due to the jump seats folding to the side. You lose a lot of cargo space for everyday use behind the 2nd row. You also have basically no usable cargo behind the 3rd rows whenever you actually go to use them.
- Suspension is insanely expensive to fix if you ever need to. Mine leaked at one point under warranty and it was around a $3k repair (5-6 years ago, would be way more now). Replacing the entire suspension at the dealer is around $7k (I was quoted this 4 months ago).
- Great to drive on road trips, not enjoyable (for me) around town. What makes it great on a road trip is what makes it not enjoyable around town. It's big, it's heavy, and it's just a bit cumbersome in stop and go.
If it's a truck you really want, you should go for it.

The age doesn't concern me if its well kept, your RX is also older, to me the big issue is technology. I couldn't step back that far in tech, personally.

Buy a good system or a full conversion with a 2024 headunit, some brands are supported way better than others as well....
The systems sold for say a Q7 are way better than anything I've seen for an LS, the former is so good it's hard to know it's not supposed to be there and even pops up sonar/cameras natively
Meanwhile I have to be content with just Bluetooth for the LS

The Bluetooth doesn稚 even work on my GS anymore. With my new iPhone, the audio has become so choppy and distorted I can稚 hear what the other party is saying.

Intermediate
If this is the one you are looking at it is WAY over priced.
