Rust Woes: $30k CAD for a Pacific Northwest Lexus LX – Yay or Nay
Hey there, LX crew!
I need your collective wisdom on a sweet deal I've got my eye on. So, there's this Lexus LX SUV going for $30k CAD, and it's been chilling in the Pacific Northwest all its life, clocking around 230k kilometers.
But, here's the kicker – there's some sneaky little rust peeking around. Now, I'm not sure if it's a deal-breaker or just a minor hiccup. Can y'all take a look and tell me what you think? Is this ride worth the price tag, or should I keep on looking?
Kinna blurry . Best will be to put it up on a lift to get a cleaner look. But looking at the pics, the most rusts are at the 'bottomest' / 'lowest' part towards the back... doesn't look too bad (have seen alot worst over the years... but again still better for you to lift the whole thing up to get a closer look.
Mileage is still low...

Cheers!
Spend the money to have it checked by an independent shop. Check every system, engine trans drive train brakes suspension electrical. Everything is costly to fix these days.🤑
230K IS a lot of miles. And they are in a salty air environment.
Odds are the rust is acceptable, but i would have someone check it out. $30K IS reasonable if there is no severe rust AND all the systems are working. But if there are things wrong, that $30K is going to start looking like a real rip off!
For instance, if someone forgot to change the oil, and the rings are all carbonized and she burns a quart of oil every 1000 miles, you are not going to enjoy that....

my RX350 held up until around 220K MILES, then stuff started wonking out. So i just assume ALL toyota stuff will run the same, to 220K or so, and then a myriad of things strat going bad.
143K miles is still quite young for a toyota.. go for it
