Default 2021 LX570 Safety Systems

I have a few specific questions about the safety/impact prevention systems as it relates to hitting objects and the warnings/safety nets that prevent you from striking something..Also about what events would be recorded on the vehicle data systems related to this. OK so first off, is there a manual switch somewhere on/near the dash to turn the impact warning systems off? I have an s550 and you have to go through all the settings on the screen to get there, seemed odd there would be a manual switch to do it. Second, could someone briefly explain to me what systems are in place and how they work as far as being reverse and about to hit something? If the system is on will it full break if you are approaching an object behind you, or just give audible warnings? I am specifically referring to the vehicle being in reverse in these scenarios, not going forward. I just need to understand what systems are in place, and if they can be turned off/on easily. And if they can't, could someone reverse at a fairly high speed (say 20mph) and be able to hit something without the vehicle stopping itself. Oh and about the vehicle data, would this all be recorded, especially impacting something going in reverse at 20mph? Would there definitely be a record of it somewhere in the vehicle data recorder? Anyway thanks.

Hi.
There is no manual switch that turns off all impact warning systems. There is one separate button close to the steering wheel that can turn parking sensors off, but nothing else. You can turn other systems off via steering wheel buttons through the instrument cluster display.
Backup cross traffic alert does not have automatic braking, it just alerts you if anyone or a vehicle is approaching with arrows visible in the infotainment screen and audible beep.
Hope this helps.

Just curious if you reviewed the Owners Manual on these topics.
if you don’t have one you can go to Lexus.com and order a paper copy or download an electronic version which would allow you to do word searches for these topics

Hey, thank you for the above posts! The manual can be a little ambiguous at times, as it says for instance that the PCS "may not operate" if the shift lever is in R, but it doesn't quite outright say it won't.
Just for clarity, is it correct that for a 2021 LX 570:
  1. The intuitive parking assist does not have PKSB;
  2. The PCS does not activate while in reverse
Much obliged in advance if anyone could provide this final clarification

PCS is for forward collision warning, on the LX it does nothing for the rear. There is a button to select how sensitive and I think you can hold down the button to disable it. It is on the right side of the steering wheel near your knee. I believe the LX570 does not have PKSB which is the system that can apply brakes when reversing, it has rear cross traffic alert only. Lane keeping, blind spot, are toggled in the instrument cluster menu.

I find that interesting that the LX570 doesn’t offer that sort of protection in reverse, as your 450h won’t allow you to back into something. There’s a few exceptions, like debris, exc.

It does have pre-collision system with pedestrian detection that can apply brakes when vehicle is moving forward, but in reverse it only has cross traffic alert without the automatic braking feature. I'm sure the new LX600 has the reverse braking feature.
