Only got 1 Key Fob w/this (new to me) SUV & wondering if the aftermarket fobs work just as well & if having them programed is a PITA?
Also wondering if this vehicle has remote start b/c we followed the steps in the online YT video & NADA (YT mentions a subscription)???

 

I have an aftermarket one I got on Amazon. It works most of the time. On occasion it just stops transmitting so I pop it apart, re-adjust the housing to the circut board and it starts working again.

On mine (2009) if you press the lock button on the fob 3 times and hold it down on the 3rd press for a few seconds it will beep then start. Newer models are wifi based and require a subscription. Not sure what year the cutoff is.

 

I just saw in Costco 2 weeks ago they were offering sale and programming of spare keys, I checked with guy about my 2017 LX 570 and he said he has it, I believe the cost is around $150 cheaper than the dealer and he mentioned that the keys are OEM.
