Default any chance of a smaller-engined version?

I have a 2000 LX now and think it guzzles too much, so I'm not sure a 570 is going to be right for me. Anyone think there is a chance they'll have a second, smaller-engined version at the time of intro? Maybe a version of the new 4.6?

If mpg of a new LX isn't any better than the one I have now, and if the JX has been canceled, I'm probably going to end up with a MDX or Q7 about a year from now.

Trust me, my dad and I went to test drive the Q7 when it came out and it has a harsh ride.
Also there probably wont be a 4.6 because the new tundra is a 5.7L engine and the LX,Tundra, LC has had the same engines for a long time.

if the LX lost some weight and stayed roughly the same size or slightly smaller, a 4.6 from the LS would work. But rumor has it that it will be increasing in size, and most likely...so will the motor.

With the VVT-i that the new 06-07 have, there have been results of high mpg, over 17mpg WITH rooftop cargo at over the limit speeds on the highway.

And Syswei, the current LX470 gets better gas mileage then your 2000, so ied assume the new ones should be even more efficent.

I'd like to see a hybrid option, too, but that hasn't been part of any rumors/speculation that I've seen.

The 07 LX gets the same combined mpg as the 2000, according to epa figures (fueleconomy.gov). The 08 is supposed to be a bigger vehicle, which I think might be offset in part by the greater efficiency of dual-injection. But 5.7 is alot bigger than 4.7, so I expect that the 08 will at best get similar mpg to the 07, and could be worse. On the other hand the new 4.6 in the LS is more than powerful enough for my needs (no towing) and would get better mpg than the 5.7, if they were to put one in the LX.

I have seen the EPA mileage estimates for the LX/LC suvs. There are terrible...The Lx weights 5401lbs, has full time 4wd, is areodynamic like a brick with a .40 drag coeffecient. has every option whether needed or not, weights about 200 lbs more than the larger sequioa..

I am not sure why people complain about the gas on this truck when the vehicle is very high priced to begin with.

I loved my 00 LX that I had. The styling is absolutely drop dead awesome on those. It's very upscale masculine. GX is too... "tall". LX comes across as squat because it just seems wide, which is far better looking in my eyes.
Seeing as they are jumping to the what... 380hp 400ft. lb 5.7 and 6 speed, that'll be a rather efficient combo given the weight.

I'm really hoping they keep the fundamental equation the same and don't get too "L-Finesse" on it. Upgrade under the shell, interior, drivetrain, frame etc. Exterior is perfectly good looking, can't really improve upon it any sig. amount. IMHO.

Your post is very true. 5600lb $70K SUV and someone that drives 15000 miles a year is concerned about spending $2300 per year on gas at 15 mpg versus $1150 per year at 23 mpg if they had a RAV4? What maybe saving $100 per month when gas is around $2.30 per gallon? I could save that amount by only tipping 15% versus 20% when I eat out every month

From what I've read they are going to keep the looks and the frame about the same, upgrade the interior (don't know how?) and of course the engine/transmission. I don't think we will see any major change in the way the LX/LC looks.

those spy shots suggest otherwise (regarding the exterior), but i really hope you're right. a 4runner esque bubbling would pain me. i'd much rather have a sweet looking new LC/LX and have to buck up for the upgrade than have it turn out to be just another bubble truck.

I'm going by the spy shots in the current "Truck Trend" where they state what I just said and show a picture that supports not much change in the exterior. Other then that I know nothing
