If I'm not mistaken, the LX570 will continue to be a Toyota Land Cruiser derivative. As a separate model, there'll likely be a Lexus VX570, as a derivative of the upcoming 2nd-generation Toyota Sequoia, possibly becoming the first U.S.-built Lexus, to do battle against the Cadillac Escalade, Lincoln Navigator and Infiniti QX56.

Whoa, between the VX supersized SUV, the possible JX midsized 3-row crossover, and then the smaller "CX"? Europe-market crossover...a bit of SUV overload. I sense a bit of cannibalization in-house.
A VX would have to be very, very differentiated from the previously top of the line LX....

Very true. Lexus has shored up its traditional car lineup lately, and has achieved a 60/40 car/SUV percentage split, after years of being dominated by SUV sales. I suppose that a VX could expand that lineup...just have to wait and see though. I've always felt the LX was analogous to the LS (aka the top car in the lineup). With spy shots showing the LX mules with an LS-styled interior, that seems to bear that out. However, the mules are also rather LX 470-sized, which suggests there is room at the top for an Escalade sized jumbo SUV. I wonder if the VX designation will have the cachet to be the new top vehicle...similar rumors about the "L 650h" to be above the LS...

I really hope that Lexus won't go down that route and chase down Lincoln Navigator and Infiniti Qx. Range Rover didnt.

There's not going to be any VX. The LX is going to (finally) move into "full size" SUV territory with this change. There's no need for TWO midsize SUVs - and no reason that Lexus should NOT compete in the fullsize SUV market. The GX will continue on as the midsize SUV. The RX is the small SUV.. If there's going to be a VX, expect it to be as big as, if not larger than the outgoing Ford Excursion. I'm sure you all see how unlikely that'll be...
