Lexus Unveils All-New LX 570 @ 2007 NYIAS (official pics & specs pg. 9)

I think it has strong points, most notably the vastly improved interior, top-class features, and more power and capabilities.
However, the clear weak spot is the styling. I wasn't expecting a masterpiece, but the resemblance to the redone Highlander is disappointing. However, it may (hopefully) look better in person.
But the pictures show this IMO as NOT an L-finesse treated vehicle. Rather, this is a Toyota designed vehicle with some L-finesse cues here and there. Overall the shape has not changed much. I actually find the front end, with the more sculpted angles, to be rather disconcerting. There seems to be too much overhang with the rest of the vehicle behind not matching.
This vehicle should have been a Land Cruiser, and let the Lexus be more STYLISH.
Although it can be said that big SUV drivers probably don't care as much about style.
Maybe this will be the brutish Lexus in the lineup. Capable but not a looker.

Any news on a hybrid LX? Would be nice to have one that able to compete with a Porsche Cayenne S
The interior nice, not sure about this though
I find it way to classy and conservative for an SUV. Was hoping for something similar to the GX.
One thing doesn't MB SUVs have 7-speeds?
What happened to the new 8 speed for the LX? Too many gears for a luxury off-roading vehicle?!?!

And considering the overall capabilities of the LX and it's chassis/platform, it would be *very* hard to give it super-smooth, curvy L-Finesse styling. There isn't just one interpretation of L-Finesse styling. I would say the LX 570 *does* have L-Finesse styling, albeit applied minimally to keep that "brutish" look to it.

The absence of HIDs would be very disappointing. Also, I'm not liking the chrome accents on the rear tail lights.
However, the interior is very, very nice

I quite like the interior, although I'm not quite sure about the gauges. Overall though it seems to blend Lexus' ergonomics and increased interior beauty in a pleasing manner, far better than any LX previously.

I've been critical of the exterior, but the car doesn't look that bad from the back. I looked at the autoweek picture and thought it would look more like a Rav4. But still, I would have liked to see bodycladding on this LX, as in all other LX designs. JMO
