Lexus will stage the world debut of the all-new LX 570 luxury utility vehicle at the 2007 New York International Auto Show. "The third-generation LX 570 will reach new heights in performance via a powerful new V8 engine while achieving elevated levels of comfort, style and safety," the company said in an announcement.

The LX 570 is expected to feature a 5.7-liter V8 similar to the one offered in the new Toyota Tundra pickup. The Tundra powerplant puts out 381 horsepower and 401 pound-feet of torque. It's not known if the power ratings or specifications will change in the Lexus application.

The LX 570 will replace the LX 470 and will feature an all-new exterior.

It's about time. The current LX470 is outdated. A scion xB design is even more modern!

5.7L v8...it's exactly what it needs. The 4.7L V8 had too much weight to carry. I've always felt that the engine was struggling to keep up (and thats not talking about towing yet)

Can't wait to see the new LX. There is lots of competition in the full size SUV market, so I'm hoping Lexus unveils a winner.

I was expecting either this or the new SC to be shown at NY, so it looks like it's the LX. If the engine has the D4-S duel fuel injection system on it, it may very well be class-leading in terms of power, beating even the Escalade and it's 6.2L.

Is this model going to be a preview of the Land Cruiser as well? Or will it be a separate model? Will it gain significant size to be on-par with the Escalades, etc?

Looks like the JX/VX designation rumors were just that.

Wonder how fuel-efficient this beast will be?

For it's displacement and power, the 3UR-FE is a very efficient engine. Ultimately, the fuel efficiency of the LX will depend on whether it gets the same 3UR-FE as the Tundra, or if it gets one with D4-S injection.

Hopefully the LX 570 will get a push button start/stop similar to the ES, IS, GS, and LS.

This is great I can't wait to see my favorite SUV get a new design! I'm guessing it's not sharing a platform with the Land Cruiser anymore because I remember at the Chicago Auto Show they said the new Land Cruiser will not be revealed till next year.

Hopefully we will see the actual LX a day early like what happened with the IS-F

Also I hope the LX will have more hp than the Tundra, 400 hp would be nice.

2008 Porsche Cayenne S: 385 hp ($57,900 US)
2007 Mercedes Benz G500: 292 hp ($83,700 US)
2007 Range Rover Supercharged: 400 hp ($92,035 US)

Hopefully the LX570 wont see a huge increase in its price, so about $70,000 US (MSRP)

Also I wonder when we will hear about the new SC. Also be nice if they drop the 5.7L in the GX also, seeing the GX doesnt need any remodeling other than the new engine

A lot of the reports I read said it would have an interior very similar in design characteristics, quality, and materials to the LS460.

I still wouldn't pay 70k for a truck, though.

The spyshots had an LS 460-style NAVI...

...I do hope to see some L-Finesse in there, and I would like to see the car get a more hulking appearance.
