2000 song harddrive is another nice tidbit, 19 speaker ML big increase in amount of speakers over the 470, and of course the significant engine and transmission upgrade. If the real price is what this email says then this car isnt overpriced as some people believe.

Prices of SUVs similar to LX570 (all starting prices)
Cadillac Escalade - $76690 (CDN) / $57340 (USD)
Porsche Cayenne S- $78500 (CDN) / $57900 (USD)
MB GL550 - $91000 (CDN) / $76975 (USD)
Range Rover Supercharged - $121400 (CDN) / $92035 (USD)
Hmm... Hopefully the LX570 will get a nice reduction of some sort to equal to the GL550 or be slightly less (here in Canada)

Bone and Jerky
We got to wait and see what kind of bone Lexus throws us.
Probably by March or April if sales are lagging we will be getting a bigger bone perhaps even some Beef Jerky.

You pay extra for rear climate control, keyless-go, heated back seats, etc, etc.
And LX still has more features.

"Vehicle comes equipped with all available packages. Optional packages are not available."
Looking at the configurator for the GL450, the following are the "packages" that are included on the GL550:
P1: Premium I details DVD COMAND NavigationRear View Back-Up CameraParktronicPower Passenger Seats with MemoryAuto-dimming driver and power folding mirrorsPower Driver Seat & Steering Column with Memory PackagePower steering column and memory seat functionHands-Free Communication SystemGlass SunroofPower Telescoping & Tilt Steering ColumnSIRIUS Satellite RadioHarman/Kardon LOGIC7® SystemPower Rear Qtr Windows & Double SunvisorsPower liftgate and cargo net
P2: Premium II details Includes all items from P1 plus:3-Zone climate controlsRear air conditionerInfrared glassHeadlamp washing systemBi-Xenon High Intensity Discharge headlampsCorner-illuminating foglamps
318 Full Leather Seating Package details Wood/Leather Steering WheelBurl Walnut Wood TrimInterior Ambient Lighting
323 Heating Package details Heated Leather Steering WheelHeated Rear Seats
334 Enhanced Off Road Package details Center and Rear Locking Differentials2-speed transfer caseSkid plates with underride protectionDynamic Compass Display
335 19" Wheel Package details WheelsStainless-steel skid platesBlack CrossbarsAll Seasons Tires
Of the 3 items you mentionned as being "missing" on the base GL550, 2 are actually included in the base price, it appears to me. Keyless go remains a separately priced option, not part of a "included package".
Maybe things are different in Canada, sorry but I don't usually bother to check that since I don't live there.

2008 LX570 Pricing Information
I thought of sharing some of the additional information received from my dealer today regarding 2008 LX570.
The estimated availability of LX570 at US dealerships is during the first or second week of January 2008. Sneak previews are available at various auto shows now.
I learned from my dealership that Lexus released the initial configurations and pricing to dealerships during a recent production planning meeting. In order to suppress the “initial surge” of long awaited customers or those who are eager to procure one right away, Lexus is going to introduce the vehicle in two distinct configurations. Base suggested retail price is fixed at $73,800 plus destination charges (approx. $750.00 for shipping) without any available options.
First Configuration with the options listed below is priced for $$77,880 plus destination charges. 90% of the preliminary deliveries are forecasted with the following configuration. You may note that “Rear Entertainment System and Lexus Link” is not included here. This includes the following options:
• FT- 20 inch Alloy Wheels
• ML- Mark Levinson
• PA- Clearance Sonar (Park Assist)
• BM- Blind Corner Monitor
• HS- Climate Seats (front and second row)
• PT- Power Third Row Folding Seats
Second Configuration includes all the above options plus the following two options and priced it for $80,120 plus destination charges. Only 10% of the preliminary deliveries are anticipated to come with the additional two options below. Additional options include:
• EY- rear Entertainment System
• MZ- Lexus Link
It is very interesting to note that one the key “most advanced safety technology offered only by Lexus” will be potentially introduced in late 2008 models similar to what happened with 2003 GX470 preliminary release without the KDSS option in early editions. This option is “PW- Pre-collision System and Dynamic Radar Cruise Control” currently available in selected LS Lexus models. This is an estimated $3,000 option. Therefore if you need a fully loaded LX570 with all available options in late 2008 comes to approximately $84, 000 give or take couple of hundreds.
No additional information is disclosed by the dealership. However better clarity on these matters is expected within the next two weeks.

Lexus Boosts SUV Price for 2008
Toyota Motor Corp.'s Lexus brand set the price of its new LX 570 sport-utility vehicle 9.5 percent higher than the model it replaces, Bloomberg News reported today.
The LX 570, a 2008 model, has a base price of $73,800, the company's Torrance, Calif.-based U.S. unit said today in a statement. That's $6,405 more than the 2007 LX 470, which begins at $67,395, according to the Lexus Web site.
Lexus Announces Pricing for All New SUV
TORRANCE, Calif., Dec. 20, 2007 -- Lexus today announced the Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) for the all-new 2008 LX 570 luxury utility vehicle. The third-generation LX offers significantly increased performance and new safety features over the LX 470 model it replaces with a number of technological advancements and a new high-strength chassis.
The 2008 LX 570, with several new technology features, enhanced safety, performance and comfort, will carry a base MSRP of $73,800.
The LX 570 features a new 383-horsepower, 5.7-liter V8 engine mated to a six-speed sequential-shift automatic transmission built to handle demanding tasks with smoothness and refinement. The powertrain advancements make the 2008 LX 570 engaging to drive while providing an increased towing capacity of 8,500 pounds. An electro-hydraulic system with four-wheel Active Height Control (AHC) and Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS) reacts more quickly and allows for a greater range of adjustment than the system it replaces.
With several first-in-class features, the LX 570 offers perhaps the most compelling combination of luxury, safety, on-road smoothness and off-road performance of any vehicle in its segment. The new Crawl Control regulates throttle and braking, allowing the driver to focus more on steering over particularly rough ground. In addition, LX 570 is the first Lexus to offer a new Wide-view Front & Side Monitor feature designed for use in certain urban settings such as parking garages. For enhanced occupant safety, the new LX 570 is equipped with a segment-leading 10 standard airbags and a segment-first Active Front Headrests. The optional Pre-Collision System with Dynamic Radar Cruise Control is also a segment first.
The LX 570's standard luxury features include a four-zone climate control system, a first-in-class power sliding second-row seat, and a power-folding third-row seat. Options include a 19-speaker Mark Levinson(R) Reference Surround Sound audio system, Intuitive Park Assist, climate control front seats with heated second-row seats, and a rear-seat entertainment system.
MSRP does not include a delivery, processing and handling fee of $765.
