This is why i said "perfection or close to perfection"....

I take it back...it seems like you guys have low expectations for $75-85,000 cars. You guys are much richer than me...for me, i expect a whole lot from a $75-85,000 car. Sorry, that is just me.

I don't know about that.

Its all relative.

And I did find the fake wood in the LC borderline offensive, I couldn't believe Toyota picked such a bad fake wood.

No offense or disrespect to your ideas of the above cars. But aside from maybe the Bentley. A rolls, ferrari or anything exotic do absolutely nothing for me. I know they are great cars and excel at what they are designed to do but don't do anything for me.

a true car enthusiast doesnt care if a car is $10,000, $100,000 or $1,000,000.
Enjoy the car for what it is.

Also...doesnt the Lexus 125 series Euro Diesel built in the 2nd half of 2007 have rubber covered grab handles on the rear passenger door and magnesium plated half shaft caps???

...sorry, I just wanted to sound cool, I don't know what I just said....

I don't think you understand my post I meant to say those cars are often $200-$300K cars, yet people I know who have owned them do not think they are perfect or even close to perfect. They may love them, but they can find things they don't like about them just like with much less expensive cars. I have been told by some that the much lower priced cars they also own are better in some ways.

The point of this thread was that Lexus has cost cut with the interior of the new LX. Powertrain, suspension, mechanical it is all there but the inside Lexus has gone down IMO...not in the main features and most materials but all in the details IMO.

by skiping double stitched leather, leather wrapped grab handles, and power rear windows, Lexus must have saved an incredible $500. As a result the interior quality has tanked. How does Toyota expect to get away things like this, like nobody would notice.

Lexus failed to use leather on the sides of the center console, more cost cutting measures.

That is a picture of the previous generation, LX 470 interior. This is a picture of the center console of the LX 570.

Perhaps it is the LX 470 that 'skimped' by having no leather on the sides of the center console? Or the brake release?

Hmmm, which would I rather have?

Kinda makes the LX470 look spartan!

Good morning Greg.

I am wrong again. I drove my wife 2006 LS430 with the Ultra Package yesterday and I notice single stitching in the cabin, never paid attention because I seldom drive her car.
I thought they were double stitching like my LX470.
We have had no problems at all with the single stitching, it is just fine and dandy.

To tell you the truth, I would not have even noticed single or double stitching on my 570 and do not even remember if my 470 or 460 had double stictching.

It seems to me that many here have little more to do than argue about this and other trivial points. I will be spending less time here becasue all this really does not make this place that nice to be around. It reminds me of the Nikon DPR forums of which a few just seem to like to argue for the sake of soing it.

May everyone enjoy what they got!

I agree with tigmd - fake wood in a $75,000 vehicle is unacceptable IMO. It would be like dating a supermodel with a big *** mole on her nose. Toyota should have simply left out all the fake wood trim and offered, as an option, a real wood/leather steering wheel. I can understand having fake wood in a lower priced product, but not in one at that price point. I could be wrong, but I seriously doubt there are any other vehicles currently sold in the U.S. at that price point with fake wood.

On the subject of double stitching, I never paid much attention to that before. I just checked my GX and saw it uses a combo of both. On the seats the two inner seams are single but the two outer seams are double. Seat mounted arm rest is single, but the door mounted armrest is double. The shift levers are all double but the headrest is single. I'll check the leather seats in my Spyder tonight but I'm guessing it's all single

I'm gonna stop by my local Toyota and Lexus dealers tonight to check out the new TLC and LX, I still haven't seen either one in person
