In today's Wall Street Journal, it lists 14 vehicles that are selling like hot cakes as of January 2008 and 7 of them are Toyota/Lexus products:

Not surprising to see the LX number one since it's been eagerly awaited by the Lexus faithful for many years with lots of pent up demand. However, the GX at number 4 really surprises me given it's been around for 6 years now with relatively minor changes. My theory on this is all the folks who are going to see the brand new LX at the showroom get sticker shock, and then say, "what the hell, at least I can still afford a GX. I'll take one of those please"

I can not believe its as high as that for the LX. Seems like everywhere around here, the car is at the dealer for maybe 3-4 days before the buyer picks it up...afterall, they are mostly pre-ordered right now.

The LX is indeed "hot"...for now, in part because it is brand new. But as for so many Lexus models being on the list, that reflects in large part the Lexus approach toward inventory management. Lexus will always have alot of models on the list, and it doesn't mean they are in particularly strong demand.

I'm perfectly serious. Go email a few dealers looking to buy a GX, GS, LS, or ES not far above invoice....you'll get some responses rather than a brushoff. Or take a look at Jan sales vs Jan 07:
ES 350 4,346 5,320 -18.3%
LS 460/600h L 1,906 3,006 -36.6
GS 350 1,270 1,368 -7.2
GS 460/450h 210 183 14.8
LX 570 710 287 147.4
GX 470 1,657 1,713 -3.3
Do any besides the LX look like "hot" sellers to an unbiased observer?

January was a particularly hard hit month for some luxo makes such as Lexus and BMW...
Yes, the fast-off-lot numbers do show careful inventory control from Lexus, although it's not surprising when newly-released models are pretty hot, IIRC the LS, ES, IS etc had top spots when just premiered.
The LX is a limited volume car; at that price range, not many people in N. America can afford such a vehicle. Clearly there has been significant anticipation of the LX from its target audience, and that is reflected now in the numbers as probably most LX's coming in are spoken for, or eyed as they arrive.

on Lexus part not to have their dealers have TONS of LExus just sitting on
lots.
Then you are forced to sell using incentives and low lease rates etc, which
hurts your dealers AND your brand image.
Sounds like other companies need to do a better job of inventory control.
Also, it does show Lexus vehicles ARE in demand, period.
In comparison, the brand new Infiniti EX, which has had an advertising
BLITZ and costs 1/2 the price of the Lexus LX, sold less SUVs.
That is pretty amazing!
Edit
The list is of how long the cars stay on the lot before they are sold not how many days supply there is.

Here in Oakville Ontario the LX570 is not moving at all. It has been about a month since Canada intro and all 3 models here in Oakville have not moved. There is also a Toyota Landcruiser in the area at a private dealer who imports from USA still waiting to be sold.
Any of you American owners stuck with any state gas taxes or penalities? Here in Ontario expecet $4000 in green tax applied to the LX570 plus 13% tax. I think in Canada Toyota/Lexus sells less than 300 LX models per year.

This is the closest thing I've seen to answering some of the questions posed here, but unfortunately does not give SUV sales.
I hope this helps:
So, as of the end of October, the IS has been steady. No significant increases/decreases in sales as far as the end of the year totals are concerned.
