You pay a premium to buy these hybrids...so, the money saved from buying a hybrid is not all that great (if at all). For example, an average Prius runs about $25,000. BTW, many Toyota dealers are charging a PREMIUM over MSRP for these hybrids. My Corolla cost about $18,000 out the door (everything included). To make money from buying a Prius over a Corolla ($7000), i would have to drive the Prius at least 80-100,000 miles (if not more)!! And what happens at 100,000 miles for a Prius?? Yes, your powertrain/battery warranty runs out...and within a few more miles, you will need to replace the battery, which is a small fortune (about $3000)! So, in the end, it's not even worth it to get a Prius over a Corolla. The new Corollas are supposedly quite refined (smooth & quiet) with decent power and 35 mpg highway. The JBL sound system on the new Corolla is better than the Prius's JBL.
In other words, you buy a Toyota hybrid to be "green" and to save the environment. You should not look at it as a wise financial investment.

Thank you.
Yes, I have been looking at a few angles. I mention the Prius , but other vehicles are in contention like the Corollas , the Civics , the Element , Camrys and Accords.
I had as a loaner both the RX350 and the RX400h , did not find the front seat comfortable.
I am still debating this issue, convincing myself that I don't drive that many miles.

Pole Position
We've spent a lot of time and miles behind the wheel of several RX400h loaners. They're very impressive and we consistently avg. 24+ mpg in mixed driving when we have them. That's our preferred loaner when we take one of our two Lexus in for work at the dealership since we need the extra space for the dog.
Great vehicles. Unfortunately, I can't see that well out of them but I don't think the huge c pillars bother most drivers.

The RX400h was the first hybrid I ever drove and was very impressed with the system intergration. Other than the motor shutting down at some lights, the average person would not even know it was a hybrid.
I am with you and from looking at the vehicle when your are outside, it looks like it shoudl have great visibility but when you get inside, it was not what I expected. I could live with it and could possibly get used to a vehicle like this in the future. Milage and power were impressive!

Another factor I forgot to mention is the height of the LX, my two oldest Rottweilers have difficulty climbing that makes me the designated helper, the female weights 95 pounds and the big boy is 136.

I have a buddy that picked up 2 Prius (would that be Priui?) and even if he got one, it was $500 over invoice. They are the highest selling models at Toyota dealerships here by far.

Yup...the price is over MSRP!! Usually, you can negotiate it out, but this gives the dealer a high starting point and thus is a disadvantage for the buyer. Toyota did this when the FJ came out too.
Unlike Lexus, Toyota dealers can charge whatever they want...with Lexus, the dealer can only charge MSRP as the max price. Of course, some dealers get around this by adding accessories and then overcharging them.

I have a friend that shipped cars from IL to CA and I think it was $700 or so...
seems like a good deal

If i was in the market, then yeah, i would consider it...i would probably fly over there and then drive it back to TX...plenty of miles to break it in and bond with it.
