Default Question about locking LX570 with engine running?

How do I get out of my LX570 with the engine running and lock the vehical till I return. Right now I can not lock the 570 with either the fob or by hitting the button on the door handle with the engine running.

Is this one of the settings that Lexus can set for me?

I know I am missing something simple here, like reading the manual! <vbg>

So, from the lack of replies, it can not be done?

What I would like to do is lock the car with the fob in it, so i never have to carry it around. I have done this with other cars, but not with Lexus--the car will simply not lock if the fob is in it. Period.

That is what i was told.

Interesting that it knows when the fob is in or out of the car. Guess that that is a safety thing to keep you from locking the fob in the car. I know I leave mine in the console while at the car wash and forget and when I try to lock the car later it will not lock, reminding me that the fob is in the car.

Seems you should be able to take the fob with you with the engine running and able to lock the car. Am taking mine in for the 10k on Wednesday and I will ask them.

I am interested is why you would want to do this as it would be like leaving the key in the ignition

I will ask the service department, on Wednesday, what options if any, are available.

OK got my $274 10K service over, let me tell you they are proud of those AC filters.

Oil change $109.51
Rotate and balance tires: $68.95
Replace AC Cabin Filter $42 + $30 labor = $72
$5.59 fuel surcharge on rental (new model 250 with only 20 miles)
The cost was worth it to me to get my 570 back!

Are these cabin filters being used all the time of just when you hit the filter button. I have only hit that button twice! <vbg>

Anyway after getting out of the little LS250 or was it a 350, I felt like I was in a monster truck!

Dealer would check into locking to doors with the engine running and leaving and get back to me.

I learned this the hard way as we went to visit friends and could not get the car to lock with the remote no matter what. About 15 minutes later I remembered that my wife had her purse in the car with her keys in it (yes, her purse in the car...yep, I asked why she would leave her purse in the car???)

Yep I turned over my spare for her to keep incase we needed it but she leaves her purse in the car all the time when we go eat or what ever and I ended up removing the extra key and leaving it at the house. I can always call Lexus and have them unlock the door but that would mean I have lost my key and could not get it started anyway! <vbg>

This might be something I have to live with but I love not having to mess with a key to use my 570. Once you go keyless, it is hard to go back. I get in her Infinity and it seems primative to have to find and use a key!

Oil change $109.51
Is this just a standard oil change?
Regular oil?
Anything else done to the vehicle?

They always use synthetic oil. Includes a filter and disposal fees I guess.

The addtional items were listed:

Rotate and balance tires: $68.95
Replace AC Cabin Filter $42 + $30 labor = $72

They always use synthetic oil.
Is that your choice to use synthetic of factory recommended?

I am pretty sure the 5.7 comes with regular oil from the factory/

Like my past LX series and I suspect all Lexus, they all come with regular oil for break-in. But for the last 3-4 years, my Lexus dealer uses sysnthetic oil for changes. In this case with filter change, 2 gallons of it.
