Yakima Skybox on LX 570 and crossbar load limit!
Just recently purchased a Yakima Skybox 21. I have yet to put it on because of the weather, but we are headed out on a trip this weekend. It has been impossible to figure out the load limit of the factory crossbars, does anyone know this? Also I recently found a post from a couple years back saying Yakima boxes weren't recommended for the LX because the rack sits so far back. What do yall think? Its a pretty big cargo box ( 36×91) I don't want to be cruising down the road and rip the box off because the crossbar are to weak. Thanks!

There's zero in the owner's manual as to any weight limit.
Going back to the 100 series, my '01 LX has a label on the driver's-side side rail that notes 150 lb. max. I've probably exceeded that more than a few times with the same box you're using...no issues with bolts loosening nor any deformation to the cross rails.
That said, I load it with lightweight stuff, e.g. duffels and backpacks filled with clothing, sleeping bags, ThermaRest pads, etc.
Focus on keeping the center of gravity low and you'll be OK.
If you're looking at from-the-horse's-mouth info, give Lexus customer service a call.

Thanks.... I have my local Lexus dealership a call and found out it was 165#. I was able to test for the box today and it fit really well. I was able to lift the back hatch all but the last few inches. I'll probably be around 145# with all the luggage so I'll be plenty within the limit.
