I think I am leaning towards option 1 with a slight modification: wait until the 2016s hit the dealer floor so that I can check out the car and really confirm if it is worth the significant extra money AND let the previous model years get hit with just a bit more depreciation.

I was in your shoes last september 20.


I ended up getting a brand new 2014 Land Cruiser blizzard Pearl with sand interior ( Beige) for $69,000 with all the bells and whistles.
odometer is 35miles
the LC comes in only one trim. fully loaded.
remember the LC use regular unleaded and mpg is 13/18 vs the LX which is 12/17 ( if im not mistaken).
I don't miss the adjustable suspension, and even if it has a Toyota badge on it, it feels more luxurious inside than your NX/RX/GX.


the GX 460 feels like a Nissan to me..( but that's just me)


I got a good deal since the dealership had it on the garage for almost 2 years now. I saw it when I brought the RX350 for oil change a few months ago and had my eye on it since then.


my wife still enjoys our 2013 RX 350 and I enjoy the LC.

I have a 2014 LX 570. I am waiting for the 16 and will trade right away. Mine has 15K. But you guys are lucky. Coz the tax in the Dominican Republic I need pay 160,000 us.

I would go for Option 1.

If you wait for the 2016 model to come out, you heart will want the new model but your brain tells you to buy the old model.

Around here (midwest) it is so hard to find a used LX that is reasonable priced. I also like your Option 1 UNLESS you can write it off as Business Expense then Brand New 2016 it is.

A GX is not even close to a Land Cruiser, let alone an LX.

RX's, even in Idaho, are about as common as Chevy Malibu's.

I think it's hard, having shopped for one-owner LX's or LC's with perfect maintenance records and zero rust, to find them anywhere. Maybe hardest in the northwest where they're critical to have in winter and people tend to drive them until they drop.

I agree about leasing...you're getting intercoursed and left with no equity unless you can write it off for business.

I just purchased a 2014 CPO with 14K miles, couldn't be happier. Let the first owner take the initial depreciation.
The car is as good as new.

I definitely do. $1K or so per month, or more, for doing nothing except driving a 1 or 2 year old car is, to me, a great deal. That said, obviously if that doesn't matter to you, get the latest.


I'd guess low-$80K range. Good deal varies by region and number of trucks sent to that region. But it probably varies more based on your negotiation skills, or lack thereof.


Same here. I pay cash and could also afford it. But there's a lot I could do with the cash I save on deprecation.

A non-LX example, but the percentages out to be close...

A new 2015 Land Cruiser...MSRP $82,150...only options are hood protector and WeatherTech laser cut floor mats from stem to stern.

My new-to-me 2013 Land Cruiser...I paid $48K for the truck as equipped above, plus ~$3K in tax.

So for driving a used truck with ~40K miles on her and driving a truck that's not the current latest-and-greatest by 3 years, I figure I saved in the neighborhood of $34K...I definitely do not have a problem with that.

Though if you feel you want brand-new, go for it.
