LX570 2015 Wind whistling
#32
I have the same issue with my new GX. The sound is very faint and only noticeable when radio is down. It sounds like the wind sipping through a crack or old school radio tuning static (like an electrical static noise). It is more noticeable on the highway, regardless of the speed, and even with the radio off.

I drove on the highway to see if I could tell where the noise is coming from. I believe it is the door trim. Hopefully the dealer service department can resolve it.

Bumping this thread as I am new to the forum and am a new owner of a 2015 LX 570. I am noticing wind noise at highway speeds from the driver side.
i looked at the position of the cross bars on the luggage rack and the front is in the forward most position and the rear in the rear most position. Should I push the front cross bar more to the rear? Is another possible cause the gasket around the windshield?

Toyota had to issue a tsb for the 100 series roof rack related to noise. Each cross bar needs to be at the end of it's travel...i.e., front bar as forward as possible and rear bar as far to the rear...cross bars are installed so that the narrow side of the bar airfoil points forward on both. Maybe something to try.

Why don't you move both bars to the rear and drive for a few days. Then try both to the front, and then maybe one to the rear and one to the front.
Switching the bars takes what...5 minutes, maybe?
Let us know what you find.
Anecdotally, my front crossbar is fully forward, the rear is fully toward the back. I have no wind noise, and I did drive around 75 miles today, at 80+ mph.

I feel like I have isolated the wind noise to the driver side rear view mirror. Anyone with a 2015 model year have wind noise from the mirror at highway speeds? I plan to revisit Lexus service and see if they will replace.

Mine now has the noise after installing the aftermarket windshield. I had the company pull it and reseal, same issue. Then I had them pull it and put in a new one, same issue. Never had whistle with oem. As soon as I hit 60mph, upper drivers side whistles. Now I will have to turn up my stereo. Roof bars already adjusted too. dammit.

I lucked out or was blessed by an installer who'd done more than a few 200's. He recommended not using oem rubber on the seal across the top of the windshield. Instead, he used one that looked identical to oem but just a bit wider in the area that meets the roof...no idea where he found it. No wind noise at any speed and I've been up the governed maximum.
The 200 series, both LX and Land Cruiser, supposedly use glass that's 1.5-2mm thicker than industry standard, whatever that might be. Simple to get the DOT number from one of the lower corners, go to the DOT website, and see what you've got.
