Default Rear hatch won't close-

And yes I have pushed the button near the steering wheel (have tried this about 8 times)...! That has done the trick before, but this time I just get a long continuous "beep" and it does nothing. Nothing is obstructing it from closing. What am I missing? 2010 by the way.

The beep beep mean that tail gate power is in the OFF mode therefore you can not open the tailgate by press the button

It's not multiple beeps. One long beep. And isn't the button near the steering wheel what turns it on/off? I've had to push that button before (where I accidentally knocked it with my knee getting in the truck) - this is not doing anything to fix it. I'm wondering if there is anything else I am missing or what could be causing it. Thanks,

Have you tried manually opening the back door and then seeing if it will close it?

This does not sound good. Could be as simple as a sensor or worst.

Check the power hatch "defeat" button in the glove box. It is just below
the lock cylinder, "in" is enabled and "out" is disabled. Your symptoms
lead me to believe that it is "out".

I always manually open the back door. So....I manually open it, and then go to push the button (inside rear hatch) to close and get the constant beep. It's CPO and extended coverage so if something is bad it'll be covered. Just can't figure out what's happening??

Hmmm.. did a quick survey of the glove compartment box - removed everything and didn't see any buttons whatsoever. I must be missing something? To reiterate, I have a 2010. And I am checking "glove box" instead of "center console" (which I also checked briefly thinking I mis-read this thread).

There is no button in your glove box.

Afraid it is is time to see the dealer.

Odd, I had never heard of this "button in the glove box", so I went to the garage and did a brief search. I found it right away, little square button in an indentation in the left side of the box, right behind the latch. Never noticed it before. Of course, I did not touch it. I wonder if it is discussed in the owner's manual. Mine makes that continuous tone when the lower tailgate is not closed and latched, or when it encounters an obstruction. Sorry, that's all I got.

OK, now I will have to get a flashlight to inspect my glovebox.

UPDATE: just took the flashlight out and searched my glove box and there in no button. Could be there was in early LX units but my 2017 is sans button.

Did you ever find a solution to this?

I am having a similar issue on a 2010 RX350. Latches and then comes immediately unlatched.

Won't go up or down except for manually.

One long beep when pushing the "close" button, switch in glovebox tried in both positions.
