That doesn't mean that a negative experience from that long ago is going to be the same today.

And my LS460 is not nearly as well built as my LS400 or LS430 were. I have rattles, snapping, buzzing inside that I never had on either of them with 100k+ on the clock. Lexus isn't at all what it was back when I first started buying them IMHO. This is very possibly my last one.

He mentioned the LS460 vs the LS400. I love my LS460, but there’s no comparison honestly.

I owned a LS400 great car. Never owned a 430 or 460 but the 460 is the best looking one.

I agree the LS 460 ( we have owned 2, 2011 and 2017) in my my opinion heads above the LS400 we owned.
Zero problems, rattles etc. Electronics much improved ride better.

Well, I have to agree with you. I have both v8 in 5 series and 7 series. While both are much more reliable than what other BMW owners have experience, they are expensive to fix and they are less reliable than v8 Lexus. I used to own a 92' LS 400. As stated before, fun to drive = less reliable, boring to drive = more reliable.

Sorry to say this, but the grass ain't much greener on the other side, buddy. You want excitement, you want beauty, you gotta pay to play. MB, BMW, RR, they know this with their flagships. You may think your Lexus is lower quality than before in the fit and finish categories, but the other guys are not any better in the long run. Owners just don't care too much about it because they typically will not keep their cars for long periods. So the dealer service and corporate literally bend over backwards to make their customer happy (under warranty). Lexus, on the other hand, don't give a rat's *** if your steering wheel wood doesn't match your other interior wood.:-) Their priority is weighed on reliability. Trust me, I know this first hand.

"Fun to drive" depends on what you define as "fun". Wife and I consider a week or 2 in the back country on Forest Service roads exploring and using the truck as base camp. Wife's LX and my Land Cruiser are definitely what we want when the closest mechanic or parts store might be 50 miles away.

/Thread...

A good friend works for MB on the west coast. He's the guy dealers call if they're stumped with a problem...and most problems relate to in-car computer issues which the factory cannot fix with just flashing the system. MB has bought back a bunch of cars owned by sports celebrities. MB stopped hand-making cars in the 1960s and they don't seem to last as long as they did in the past.

My only issue with my LS460 really is interior creaks and rattles. For instance my Kia Minivan which is a month older and has been used much harder, has zero. Inexcusable in the Lexus LS. I’ve had the whole console apart chasing them down and taping areas with felt tape, which helps but I need to go investigating again.

I can't speak for the trucks as I haven't had one, but I have not owned a Lexus car that was devoid of rattles inside after 30k miles since my 04 LS430. My ES350, GS350 and LS460 all developed interior rattles by 30k miles.

Lexus motto: " The pursuit of Perfection". So it cannot be rattles, it has to be something your ears, LOL.
