Default 2016 Transmission Update

Took my 2016 LX in for its 10K service yesterday. I mentioned I was experiencing some "transmission weirdness" at low speed and hunting for gears. I had read somewhere online that there was a software update for the 2016 transmission. The dealer didn't know about it but... they researched and found out that there was an update.

From my invoice:
TSIB Update for the ECM Transmission #895366011200 TSIB L-0SB-0118-17

This seems so far to have cured the weirdness.

Hey bud, by any chance did that update solve the lower gear transmission issue, I'm dealing with the same issue as well, thanks looking forward to your reply.

Not sure how to explain the problem I was experiencing but prior to the update, it seemed like the LX would not downshift entirely while slowing to a "rolling stop" and when I would re-engaged the throttle, it seemed to take a while to hunt for the right gear. While the truck was trying to find the right gear, I could hear the engine RPM spike a bit as if the transmission was briefly disengaged from the engine but within a few seconds it would correct itself and go back to functioning normally.

I have not noticed this problem since the update. So far so good.

Yep, I'm experiencing exact same issue, specially right after stopping on a stop sign, so I should take it to the dealer and ask for this software update?

Yes. My dealer didn't know about the update so after I mentioned it to them, they looked it up and found out that it did indeed exist. They were able to perform the update during my free 10K service. I'm not sure what the update is called exactly but my invoice had the following information on it:

TSIB Update for the ECM Transmission #895366011200 TSIB L-0SB-0118-17

Hope this helps you out

Thank you, I'm sure when they see this they can tell what the update is for.

I am wondering if this only affected certain vehicle and when it was built. I am not experiencing the transmission issue, but good to know about the update just in case. Thanks.

Brywhite:
Great info. Have you (or any other LX750 owners) found out exactly what year Lexus this TSB pertains to?
Mine's a 2015, so it has the 6-speed transmission. The TSB may not be relevant for my car (seems to be shifting fine).
Thanks
Bob

Like Bimmer32, Mine does not have any issue, but I would like to know if it would make mine sleeker

Thanks for posting the TSB # going to do this for my wife's 16 LX570 which has 21k of miles and the low-speed gear-hunting is very prevalent!

The first TSB covered 2016's, the second covered 2017's. Both are VIN dependent.

No TSB's on the 6-speed I'm aware of, and personally happy I have the 6 v. the 8.
