Default BF Goodrich All Terrain T/A KO

Hello... I'm looking to add more snow/mud performance to our 2013 LX570. I love the BF Goodrich All Terrain T/A KO tire. Has anyone ever tried to put these on an LX?? The original tire size on the LX is 285/50 R20... the closest size they make this in is a 285/55 R20. Just a little increase in sidewall. Would there be any issues putting this tire on the LX?

Those are LT tires and will be quite heavier than the original tires. I would expect them to also be a bit louder. This past winter I purchased the Hankook Dynapro AT-M in 275/60/20 and couldn't be happier. They ride well and are snow rated.
Over on the IH8MUD forum quite a few guys are using the Goodrich tires. You might want to check out their opinions.

If you need a better snow performance, I strongly recommend purchasing dedicated winter tires, like for example Bridgestone Blizzak DM-V2. Although some AT tires are quite good for both snow and mud, they will never be so good at snow as special winter tires.

Do you want an all year/all season tire, or are you willing to drop the bucks on another set of wheels to mount dedicated winter tires?

My LX as 285-75x16 Toyo AT IIs. Zero noise, they seem to keep up with 100s with T/A KOs off road. 50K on them so far and another 10-15K left.

The 200 series has Blizzak DM-V2s on 18" Tundra steel wheels for winter, and Toyo AT IIs for the rest of the year. In winter, I'd say the Toyo's are close to the Blizzaks, maybe 90% but they feel much steadier on melting icy slush. If I could do it over, I think I should have opted for studded tires, particularly since the Idaho Snowmageddon last winter.

I also thought about studded tires. On the other side, I was able to get everywhere I needed this winter and this was the worst winter in 20 years (or even more) here at Lake Tahoe. I had just older DM-V1 so probably with much better DM-V2 it would be a piece of cake :-) Studded tires have many disadvantages and if it would be really bad, I always carry chains.

Thumbs up

Did it. Love 'em. Would do it again.
The ride quality improved (can't discount the contribution of more useful sidewall there) and I have zero noise complaints.
Happy to answer any follow-up questions, too.
Cheers.

The BFG AT'2s are not getting good reviews on tire rack and a lot of the guys on mug are seeing tread separation think I'm gonna go with Mitchlen AT2's when it's time. Keep us posted on your experience with the BFG KO2's

I am running a 33 A/T on my 15 LX and I cant hear them. Traditionally, at least here in colorado, the skinnier tire will have better grip (at least in my experience). They are a solid tire and I have had no issues with them even going back to having them on my GX.

Michelin AT2's 285/55 R20 on my '14. No issues at all. No more noise than the Latitudes, no "sway' and All Season rated.
