Has anyone experienced this? They said it was common since it’s a heavy car and trying to stop it will wear down quickly.

This is a 2016 Lx570 bought almost a year ago. 1 year anniversary coming December 1st.
Are you the one riding brakes?, LOL!

if the cost of that convenience is changing the brake pads every 20k miles or so then I’m ok with it. My 2010 lx did not have dynamic cruise control and my original brake pads lasted 50k miles.
I also love it and would never buy a new car without it. It does not affect brake pads in normal conditions. But it terribly affects them when you use adaptive cruise control and drive downhill on steep mountain roads. I found it quite soon. The problem was that I did not expect it - other Lexus cars (for example LS) with adaptive cruise control had never any issues on these roads - they downshifted lower and more often than LX. Also the adaptive cruise control in LS has braking indicator so you can see when it brakes. There is no such indicator on LX.

If you're in Idaho, welcome to "steep mountain roads". I drove my 200 through the mountains from Spokane to Boise the day I bought her. Got into the owners manual at a coffee stop and chose regular cruise v adaptive. I used the trans as it was designed, especially on long down hills where regular cruise controlled speed.

Not very different from some roads here around Lake Tahoe :-) But yesterday I did my favorite road (hwy 168) from Big Pine, CA to hwy 95 in Nevada. You could easily destroy your brakes here just in a few miles (easier than on Nürburgring). This road is the best reason for ceramic brakes. My friend has them on Porsche Macan and this is the right road to justify their price.
