Hi folks,
Just a quick note to say thank you to everyone who helped me get comfortable with taking the plunge into a used LX570 this weekend. I was only casually looking at Land Cruisers after enjoying a long trip with a friend a couple weeks ago in his 100 Series and needing a replacement for an aging vehicle in the fleet. I was on vacation in San Antonio, TX (had flown there with family to visit family) and while killing time, came across this 2008 LX570 with a little under 150k miles in the silver-on-tan color scheme I favor. Full dealer service every 5k miles since new and lived it's whole life in south TX. The dealer (small private one, not Lexus dealer) brought it by and I took it for a drive. All seemed well enough with everything working. Interior a little rough as the dealer's wife had been using it as a mommy-mobile for a few months. We came to agreement at $22k on Wednesday night, I worked the paperwork and took delivery on Thursday, and Friday morning I lit out from San Antonio to drive it back to CO averaging 19mpg for the mostly 80mph trip.
What a great vehicle. Looking forward to many more happy miles with it. The rain sensor wasn't working during some storms in the panhandle, but luckily I found a post here, popped the sensor off, cleaned the glass, washed the gel pad in soapy water, reinstalled, and she's working like a champ now.
For the last 16 years I've been putting 20,000 miles a year on a 1980 Gelaendewagen that I converted to diesel in '06. It's less than 10k miles from hitting the half-million mark. Before that I had all kinds of Land Rovers from '62 2A to '92 RR, including D90 and Disco. The LX will be a change for sure. So far, it's a good one!
All the best,
-Dave G.

Congrats! Quite a few of us 570 owners in CO and quite a few of those are modified.
