Interesting encounter with my 16 LX570 front windshield replacement
Last week, my 16 LX570 was hit by a flying rock and cracked front windshield. After taking with the insurance with concerning all the horror stories regarding windshield replacement, I have made the appointment today at my dealer with Safelite (as they are the dealer contractor) to have it replaced. To many worries about replacement windshield quality, I was relieved to see the replacement windshield was from Lexus/Toyota, and with Lexus/Toyota protection packing and label, also marked it is Made in Japan. Now comes to interesting part, the replacement windshield has the built-in brackets for LDA camera and in-coming traffic lighting sensor, just like the one currently on the windshield. However, the difference is for the replacement, it also has the camera heating elements on, for which, the original one does not have. In fact, all NA spec LX does not have that feature. Yet, the windshield part number are the same. With that slightly difference, the original plastic cover for the cameras will not be able to fit with new windshield. Now the dealer is scratch their heads to figure out where we go from here, since there is no different part number for windshield and the cover for such configuration....... Not sure it this is an updated feature for 17 or 18 LX. In either case, there has not been many (or none) of 16 LX windshield replacement happened to find that problem.
Will certainly share the outcome and resolution to the group for future reference.

A quick update: It turned out the 2016+ LX570 has a new windshield design which supersede the original part. Therefore, a new plastic cover (for LDA camera as so on) will also need to be replaced when you place the windshield. I am glad they finally figured that out.
