Default Strange thing with jump seat motor/latch

Was pushing the button for the passenger side jump seat to fold back to the side of the truck and the beeping wouldn't stop indicating the seat was not fully latched into place (even though the motor had stopped because it thought it had traveled far enough to latch). Let the seat down, repeated the attempt 3 times with no luck. On 4th attempt, the latch started "spitting" tiny pieces of metal out as the seat was raising to the side. Ironically it locked that time but I'm certain something is wrong. I'm covered under CPO but curious if anyone else here has experienced this before? I'm going to try to take it in this week or next to be inspected. It's just one more reason I dislike motorized 3rd row seats... just one more thing to go wrong and feels like an un-necessary luxury.

"...just one more thing to go wrong and feels like an un-necessary luxury."...is definitely a correct assessment. I'm not sure I see the difficulty in manually latching / unlatching a seat. I'd say it's certainly not worth adding a coupe of motors and associated wiring.

Given that the third row is for children, both of my 200 series rear seats live in the attic, and they got there about a day or 2 after buying the truck.

Update on my situation: Got the LX fixed under CPO - issue was a damaged striker and the latch "cycling due to physical damage". $600ish in parts and $200 in labor. Not sure what caused this but glad to have it fixed (3rd row was still latching properly but I was convinced it would fail at some point). My buttons for 3rd row controls had also "sunken in" a bit so they repaired that as well at no charge.
