Default Crazy Computer

Was on a 70 mile trip to a nearby town this afternoon when the display screen and all the functions controlled there went crazy. First there was no response at all when trying to change radio station, then map disappeared completely, then for several miles everything was frozen, then in about 10 minutes it started just randomly displaying different things from menu to HVAC settings.

On return trip all was back to normal. Anyone experience anything like this before?

Which model year is your LX570? I have 2016 and also experienced a random shutdown and reboot during my summer trips. The one possible cause was that I was in a remote area with very little road information, my navigation went crazy trying to re-route constantly...... Anyway, then after awhile, it just froze and then restart it. I lost all the settings like radio presets and other preferences. I took it to the dealer after my trip, was told there is a tech bulletin on the issue and dealer performed software update. I have not had that happened since. But at sometime, I have had a constant re-routing situation either. Assume that do fix the issue since it is pretty much a software issue.

I will check with dealer on your software version, if it falls into the tech bulletin as have done on mine. Between 2016 and 2018, they are essentially the same.

Don't happen to know the number of the bulletin do you?

Unfortunately, I don't. That was informed by dealer when I bought mine in for service.

Service bulletin lookup here...nhtsa recall and tsb info

Be aware you usually need to see a dealer to get the non-summarized version of a tsb. Make to know your service advisor or indy shop mechanic.

I have a 2017 and I've seen random reboots about 5-6 times.

Here's a tip if you see anything weird with your headunit: Press in and hold your power **** on the headunit. Doing so will result in a reboot of the unit.

This solves all my problems and will prevent the need to pull over and shut the car off in order to reboot the headunit.
